Cyprus to join the Visa Waiver Program for United States of America
A meeting was held 14th of January 2020, between the Minister of Interior Mr. Niko Nouri, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Niko Christodoulides and the Minister of Justice and Public Order Mr. Giorgo Savvides together with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Mr. Carl C. Risch.
During the meeting the parties discussed and decided to form a group consisting of competent officials from the Government of Cyprus and United States of America in order to expedite the process for accession of Cyprus to the list of countries whose citizens do not require a visa to enter the United States of America, known as the Visa Waiver Program. Upon accession of Cyprus to the Visa Waiver Program, no visa will be required in order for Cyprus passport holders to travel to the United States of America. In the meantime and until Cyprus joins the Visa Waiver Program, any person holding a Cyprus passport who wishes to travel to the United States of America must still apply for a visa as per the current practice. Christodoulos G. Vassiliades & Co. LLC will be providing you with updates and developments in respect to this matter.
